ACT Math

I start preparation for ACT with a test preview to check student's math skills before attempting the test. I give students the opportunity to find out which areas are weakest for them. Student solves samples questions with answers, sample math questions from previous ACT's. I show them why each of the incorrect answer will not work. I want to make sure I give my students the best chance in this exam.

Algebra 1

I hold a Bachelor of Science degree, Major Mathematics. I have taught Algebra 1 and 2, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Geometry and Trigonometry in High Schools and Colleges. I also have tutored Algebra 1 and 2 and have prepared students for Algebra EOC and ACT Math.

Algebra 2

I have taught Algebra 1 and 2 in High Schools and Colleges. At this time I am tutoring a 10th grader in Algebra 2. I explain to him first one topic in detail, make him do some problems. If he has questions I make him find the answers looking back at the topic explanations. Finally I ask him to teach the topic back to me. This is a very helpful way to master the concepts.

Calculus

I have tutored many students in Calculus. Usually I work out problems for students step by step. If a student is having difficulty with a calculus topic I encourage him to go to the appropriate section, look at the text, and then follow along with the worked problems to learn how he can do similar problems on his own. My students obtain good pass rate.

Elementary Math

I hold a Bachelor of Science degree, Major Mathematics. I have taught Math to 4th and 5th graders at Aventura Waterways K-8 Center.

GED

I have worked as a GED tutor for 2 years. Starting from 2014 the GED Test is only computer based, so I tutor students in a lab, I work one-on-one with every student when they ask for help. I have many practice tests that allow the students to prepare better.

Geometry

At this time I am teaching Geometry Full Year and Geometry EOC at a high school summer school.

Prealgebra

Tutoring Math I go over basic Math facts, operations, order of operations, fractions to make sure the students has no gaps. Usually I work problems step-by-step. The student gains practice and confidence in Pre-Algebra which form the foundation of the Math skills.

Precalculus

I know very well and like Pre-Calculus. I start my class by reviewing concepts with which student should be familiar. I would brush up on factoring, inequalities, absolute value graphing, triangles and circles. I use flash cards and math games.I ask students to solve practice problems to review new concepts.

Russian

Russian is my second language, and I lived in Moscow, Russia for 20 years. I graduated from Moscow State University. I completed a 2 year course of "Teaching Russian as a Foreign Language". I have 4 years' experience tutoring in Russian Language.

I review activities that provide helpful practice with concepts covered on the SAT.In my lessons I include references to material in The Official SAT Online Course and The Official SAT Study Guide.I use to explain the purpose of each activity. I have many handouts for students.
