Let's start in 1990. I am a scrawny lanky kid that had asthma and the desire to play sports. I grew up in Petersburg, Va. a small city known for its athletics south of Richmond. By the time I knew I wanted to play basketball I had no clue whatsoever how good I was or was going to be. I started playing in the center we called the "REC" hot spot for basketball players in the city. I couldn't really shoot then but I was so athletic and loved to rebound I found my niche. This is how I was going to get on the court. Rebounding the basketball became second nature to me. I was the Dennis Rodman of the REC. As I went on to high school I tried out for the junior varsity team and made it. I was about 6'1" and 165lbs soaking wet but I had heart and a motor that would not shut down. My coaches decided to work on my shooting because they didn't think I was going to get much taller. So the following summer I went to summer camp and worked out with the shooting guards. By the time summer was over I was 6'4" and 185 pounds-talk about a growth spurt. I came back to the team as a new machine. Now I was a physical threat; not only could I shoot but I was a rebounding defensive maniac. All I had to do was learn the game. For the next two years I learned basketball and my high school team was in the state tournament every year. Come senior year I received accolades and awards but the elusive state championship faded away. I received a scholarship from VSU and played for 3 years. I eventually left and went to France to play for 2 years then came back to the States and tried out for the Knicks. I was cut but was on the practice team for a season. Afterward I was offered a job to play basketball for a television show and that led to me becoming a stunt man, which is what I still do today. I love basketball and it is embedded in my veins. So I teach and coach when I can. And now I have relocated to the Miami-Fort Lauderdale area. I want to get into coaching and teaching basketball more.
