Through my years of experience I have learned that proper teaching requires a firm but patient approach. For many students the secret to success is installing a feeling of confidence and I feel that this is where my strengths lie. I have, over the years, demonstrated an ability to instill confidence in my students to the point that they have been able to convert this confidence into success in the classroom. As part of my law practice I represented hundreds of individuals in various levels of the criminal justice system. In my 22 years of practicing law I participated in well over 100 jury trials.

In the process of raising four highly successful children and my experience in teaching, I have been fortunate to recognize that learning is a life-long process that requires patience and understanding. Too often, students are labeled early in their educational career and struggle from that point forward to escape such labeling. Through proper tutoring, this escape process can be expedited and the student can be freed to reach the full limit of his or her abilities. All students are capable of learning. They just need the proper balance of proper instruction and encouragement. As I have indicated, this is where my true strength lies: Instilling my students with confidence.

Since high school, I have had the opportunity of providing tutoring services in all aspects of math with a particular emphasis in algebra. I have taught a wide range of students in this area from middle school students to college seniors.

American History

History has been a passion of mine since I was a small child. I had planned to pursue my Ph.D. in history but events in my life precluded this from happening but it did not affect my interest. On the practical level, however, I did teach history in middle school and high school and possess a strong background in all aspects of American History.

I have been actively involved as a writer for a number of years. I began my career as a lawyer during which time I wrote extensively. For me, reading has been an essential element of my learning experience. Obviously, I have had the opportunity to do a substantial amount of reading throughout my educational career and it remains one of my most valued activities. Geography

I have an extensive background in the social sciences having obtained my undergraduate degree in political science. As part of my undergraduate degree I was required to take several courses in geography and feel that I have a strong grasp of the subject. In addition, I taught a number of courses in geography while employed as a high school teacher.

For the past several years, I have worked for the nation's largest executive relocation company tutoring their executives and their families in the proper use of the English language. In the process, I have helped hundreds of individuals reach their goal of learning English. In addition, I am widely published in a variety of newspapers and magazines which has allowed me to demonstrate my level of English proficiency.

Since I was a young boy I have maintained an endearing passion for the study of history. I have had the good fortune of being able to teach history on the middle school, high school and college levels and enjoyed the experience immensely. In addition, I have tutored students in American, World and Ancient History. I believe I possess the ability to make the study of history relevant to today's student and to therefore motivate the student to enjoy such study.

Proofreading

Obviously, the ability to proofread is something that is developed early in everyone's educational life. The ability to do so is essential if one is to succeed educationally. In addition to my normal proofreading development, I also owned and published a newspaper for a number of years and as part of my daily responsibilities I was required to not only proofread my own articles but also the articles of many other writers. During this time, I fine tuned my proofreading skills.

Law

Prior to my moving to Florida, I practiced law in Ohio for 22 years. My practice in Ohio covered a wide variety of legal matters, and I possess a strong foundation in each of them. Since moving to Florida, I have remained current on legal issues and have written well over a hundred articles that have been subsequently published.

GED

As a college freshman I was assigned the job of teaching GED classes as part of my work-study program. The experience was truly enjoyable and rewarding and throughout my professional career since that time I have donated my time to assist students in their effort to acquire their GED. As a certified teacher, I possess the educational background and have for the past forty years provided GED training to hundreds of students.

SAT Reading

Having taught a variety of subjects for a number of year and having obtained both an undergraduate and graduate degree, reading has been an important part of my professional growth. For the past several years I have also taught courses in both ACT and SAT preparation. I have enjoyed this experience and have successfully assisted many students improve their individual performance on both tests.

SSAT

As the graduate of one of the finest private schools in my home state, I am well versed in the admission process and what it takes to do well on tests such as the SSAT. The taking of such tests can be the source of considerable anxiety and I feel that I can skillfully ease some of this anxiety by building your child's basic academic skills and his or her confidence. Spelling

As a teacher, newspaper owner and publisher, and lawyer, I have had to rely extensively on my ability to spell well. Writing and reading have been an essential element of my professional and educational career and I could not have succeeded without being a competent speller. Having been taught spelling during an era when phonics were emphasized, I have a strong capacity for passing the ability to spell onto others.

ACT English

Prior to my successful completion of my undergraduate and professional degree, I had the opportunity to take both the SAT exam and the ACT. I did quite well on both exams and have continued to develop the academic skills tested on said exams through my professional involvement and my teaching career. I remain particularly strong in the verbal and writing areas but am capable of providing strong teaching in the math portions of the test as well.

Elementary Math

In my years of teaching I have had the opportunity to teach math at various levels including two years of teaching math at the middle school level and one year of algebra. As a result, I am familiar with the special needs of math students and am prepared to provide them with the basic skills necessary to increase their overall performance. In my academic career, I have performed exceptionally well in all levels of math through calculus.

Phonics

Eight years as an ESL teacher, my educational background, and my years as a middle school and high school teacher have provided me with a strong foundation in phonics. Although phonics has received less emphasis in the modern day educational curriculum, phonics was a significant part of my education and I continue to utilize phonics in my ESL and English tutoring lesson plans.

Bar Exam

I took and passed the bar exam in the State of Ohio and practiced law successfully in that State for 22 years.

TEAS

I graduated from undergraduate school and law school with honors; am certified to teach middle school and high school; have several years of teaching experience in both high school and middle school; and, have been teaching and tutoring for a number of years. As a result of my education and experience I am well qualified to teach all the necessary skills required for students preparing to take the TEAS test.

Criminal Justice

As part of my law practice I represented hundreds of individuals in various levels of the criminal justice system. In my 22 years of practicing law I participated in well over 100 jury trials.

Social Studies

My undergraduate degree was in Political Science which required that I take an extensive number of course in the Social Sciences. In addition, I taught numerous Social Study courses in my years teaching at the Middle School and High School level.
