I first tutored students in English grammar and foreign language some years ago, having studied the following: Dutch, French, German, Russian, English, Latin, Greek, Ewe and Hausa--two languages I dealt with while in the Peace Corps in West Africa. That experience gave me insight into the intricacies of linguistics and language learning. I enjoyed working one on one with students, as I did with my own two boys before they headed off to college. Learning, studying hard, reading often are things I tried to instill in those with whom I worked.
Besides teaching and coaching in Ghana, I had also gained experience in New Jersey, Michigan, and Florida. I have traveled in Europe and West Africa, which has given me more of a love for geography and other cultures. In the coaching realm I have conducted track and field clinics, mainly focusing on shot put, discus, javelin, and the decathlon. I also have a great deal of insight into sports, because I had competed and coached for several years.
I've tutored people from the following countries: Mexico, Haiti, Switzerland, Japan, China, Czech Republic, and Slovakia. It's extremely gratifying for me to see them improve and progress with their English skills.
