Education definitely isn't what it used to be! Standards are high, and the curriculum is challenging. Let me help! As a mother of 3 (21, 18, and 15) and a teacher for 6 years, I understand the demands put on your child. My goal as a tutor is for your child to be successful. Through a combination of explicit teaching strategies, as well as fun activities, I'm confident I can help your child gain the understanding and confidence needed in the classroom. Graphing with spitwads? Why not? Football math? Sure! Poetry and reading with songs? Absolutely! All that plus! I use a variety of engaging activities to help students learn! I am currently a 4th grade teacher in Santa Rosa County. I have a degree in Elementary Education and a Masters in Reading. Let me help your child rediscover the FUN in learning!

I have experience with all grade levels and will work hard to provide your child whatever he/she needs to become successful.
I would love to help your child. Contact me to get started~~
I am currently Florida certified in elementary education (K-6). I am considered a highly qualified teacher by the state of Florida. I am currently a 4th grade teacher and teach all subjects in my classroom. I use research based practices in my classroom to engage students and help them be successful. I often use innovative and creative techniques to make learning fun.
I am currently a 4th grade teacher who uses explicit strategies and creative ideas to help students learn and retain mathematical skills.
OH NO - grammar! This is exactly what most students think. I teach students about grammar through literature. Teaching grammar through isolated lessons is not only boring, but very ineffective. When students can see the grammar 'rule' in a book or on the computer - they begin to understand that grammar is not just something that the teacher forces them to do! I'll use literature and creative ideas to help your child be successful with grammar!
I received a master's degree in reading from UWF in 2011. This program included core instruction in phonics based instruction. Phonics is key to learning to read, as it is the relationship between sounds and letters. Systematic, explicit phonics instruction is an integral part of learning to read, and especially benefits those struggling readers. Phonics instruction improves children's word recognition, spelling, and reading comprehension skills.
I LOVE to read! So much so that I have a master's degree in Reading....I'm qualified by the state of Florida to teach reading to Kindergarten through 12th graders. I use explicit strategy instruction and authentic conversations to learn about how a student learns and what his/her attitude is toward reading. By determining that, I can better help the student succeed!
It is considered 'old school' for students to be memorizing spelling words, copying them 5 times each, or doing rainbow writing with them. Through the use of patterns and fun games, I show children how to be successful with spelling.
I am very qualified to tutor a student in the area of "study skills". As a college student myself, I have learned how to manage school with a full time job with a family. Effective study techniques are a must! I have researched, practiced and taught effective study skills, including note taking, organizational skills, motivation, reading techniques, learning styles, and memory improvement.
As a tutor, I work with the individual to determine what type of study skills would be most appropriate for the student's age, subject studying, and any possible challenges. I then teach how the student how to study more effectively. I also have a plethora of academic review games that can be adapted to different ages and subjects--these games help students overcome the frustration of studying. I believe one of the biggest challenges students face when they are struggling academically is they don't know HOW to study. I'm ready to help them overcome their angst and succeed!
VOCABULARY ROCKS! I'm a word collector, and I can show your child how to be one too! I have vocabulary ideas, games, and research based strategies that will help your child succeed with vocabulary!
