Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ASVAB

Scoring well on the ASVAB tests is important for successful entry into the military or to promote to other jobs within the service. I have enjoyed working with several students to help them learn or refresh their skills in mathematics and English prior to taking the test. My experience in test prep tutoring/ teaching of adults means I have expertise in targeting areas of weakness and strength. The preparation is greatly enhanced with the use of published practice test materials in which I am able to coach you to improve your scoring potential by building up your specific areas of weakness.

Elementary (K-6th)

I am a Florida Certified Elementary Education teacher with a Master's Degree in Education. I taught 2nd grade for a few years, and did several years of substitute teaching. I enjoy tutoring the K-6 age group very much. Please consider me if your child needs some extra help in any of these grade levels. Thank you, Rhonda Currier

Flute

I have played flute since 4th grade in school. I performed in Marching Band and Concert Band throughout high school and college. My teachers often commented that I have a beautiful tone.

I am able to teach beginners and intermediate players. I can help you achieve a clear, pure tone as well as develop good technique and musicality.

Phonics

Phonics: Phonics refers to the sound-symbol relationships used in reading. Readiness for reading instruction needs to focus the learner on the basic 26 letters of the English alphabet and the sounds associated with those letters. Once those are established we can move on to more sounds associated with letter groups such as blends, digraphs and vowel patterns. A strong foundation in phonics allows the reader to decode new words and cuts down on the number of words which must be memorized by sight.

I have a BA in Elementary Education (K-6) This includes instruction in teaching phonics as part of reading instruction. I have 5 years of classroom experience in elementary grades. I also have a Master's Degree in Education. I am very well equipped to tutor students in phonics instruction.

Praxis

I hold a current K-6 Florida Professional Certificate. I hold a Master of Education degree and have several years teaching experience. I would be happy to assist newly trained teachers to pass the K-6 PRAXIS TEST.

Good morning, I am not sure who actually reads this blog, but I want to encourage anyone who is reading to reach for your goals. You must first have a goal in mind. Then take little steps toward that end. Every little thing you do matters. Every turn of the wheel takes you a bit closer. It seems cliche to say it, but it is still true. I recently set a personal goal to get back in shape... read more
