I'm a loving dad, freelance copy editor, and author. I seek the flexibility of tutoring for work-life balance. I will work with you as to subject areas, schedule and rate of pay. I look forward to the pleasure of meeting you.

I was previously certified in Miami-Dade County as a secondary level Social Studies teacher and am exceptionally strong in all language arts with a particular love of literature and vocabulary.

I have strong math skills, but not as current in trigonometry or calculus. I'm also a closet science geek without any teaching credentials in this discipline. I am enormously curious well-read.

My child is an advanced elementary student in Miami's premier charter school.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

English

I am a writer and retired attorney with broad subject matter knowledge.

Reading

I am a retired attorney, writer, editor and tutor at your service.

Social Studies

I was certified in 2010 in Florida (Miami-Dade County) for Secondary Social Studies (but have not renewed). Also, I received my post graduate degree, Juris Doctor in 2001 at the New England School of Law.

Study Skills

I graduated from New England School of Law, located in Boston, Massachusetts, in May of 2001. Every aspect of the law school experience and curriculum taught and reinforced post-graduate level study skills. I prepared for and passed the Florida Bar exam in 2002. This accomplishment demonstrated practical, as opposed to theoretical, application of study skills. I have also been approved by WyzAnt for a wide variety of subjects.

Writing

I have extensive writing experience:
first as an attorney, and I continue to write and edit both fiction and non-fiction.
