This is an important question that defines the value of an Instructor and a Librarian. I consider that this profession will qualify me to accomplish my personal mission of engaging the multiple information paths in our modern society. I have a Bachelor of Science and I almost have a Master Degree in Library and Information Science from the University of South Florida. In addition, I have been working as an Instructional Assistant in an academic institution for more than 7 years. This is a place where students of different nationalities come every day, eager for knowledge. I help and guide them in their search for information because I have always been captivated by knowledge. Teaching and helping students are not only my responsibility but it is also my commitment and passion.
More specifically, it is my goal to aid others in understanding the flow, use, and application of the information available to us. I aim to connect people, regardless of place or status in society, with the information necessary to make decisions that will better their lives.
More importantly, I use my research and technology skills to teach and help students to achieve their academic goals. Also, I can guide them to conduct academic research, writing in APA format and educate students on the use of the internet, the library catalog and electronic resources. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
