I am an engineering graduate having an exceptional passion for teaching a variety of subjects, particularly scientific subjects and languages. Equipped with my engineering background and mastery of four languages, I am looking to train tomorrow's leading STEM workforce in the U.S.
Ever since my younger years, I have viewed teaching as a blend of exciting opportunities for learning new material, serving the community, interacting with a diverse crowd, and delivering innovative ideas to a broad audience. As historian James Howell put it, “We learn by teaching”, teaching is indeed a two-way process learning process
between the educator and the student. Therefore, I always strive in making teaching a transformative experience
combining learning, fun, and personal development. For instance, even in the most abstract subjects, such as mathematics, I always try to give the students more insights on the real-life application. Here, my engineering background comes in very handy, as I am always able to relate scientific material to real-world applications. For example, when teaching geometry, I tend to help students better understand how important it is when dealing with civil engineering and structures. Similarly, when teaching algebra, I strive to give examples from exciting fields such as computer engineering.
During tutoring, I always make every effort to ensure that the students find me accessible, so that they know that I am interested in their development. My teaching philosophy relies on the following key pillars:
1. Focusing on the “big picture”, particularly in highly scientific courses. 2. Tutoring the students to not only
find the right answers but to also ask the right questions, hence developing critical thinking.
3. Leading all subjects taught with easy to understand examples that can motivate the concepts, before delving into the details.
From an experience point of view, I have been tutoring students for over a decade, in a variety of subjects. I am currently pursuing a master's degree so that I can eventually continue as a PhD student and go into an academic career due to my passion for teaching. I surely am looking forward to further interact with a diversity of students on WyzAnt and to transfer my passion for learning to them!
