To Whom this may Concern:
Hello. My name is David. I would like to congratulate you on taking the step to helping your child learn more and fulfill her/his potential. I would also like to thank you for taking the time to read my profile, and for considering me as a potential tutor for your child.
After spending more than ten years working in Latin America, I decided that it was time to return to the United States and continue my educational goals. I am a graduate student at the University of Miami, studying International Administration. I received my Bachelors of Arts from the University of Oregon in Spanish Literature, and I am extremely confident that I can help your child with their reading, writing skills, Spanish grammar, and all general educational needs.
I can also help those of you who are looking on improving your English speaking and writing skills. While living in South America, I taught Conversational English and tutored many students with their English writing and grammar.
After recently taking the GRE exam, I am prepared to help those students preparing for the quantitative sections on ACT, SAT or GRE exams.
For those who have you own pool, I can teach your children to swim. While I was in high school and college, I worked as a certified lifeguard and water safety instructor.
Basically, I am prepared to assist your children and adolescents get better grades, and improve their study skills, so that they will be able to get into the University or College of their choice.
I have tutored elementary school children to adolescents with the philosophy that, if the child is not engaged with the subject matter, the child will not want to learn. So I take the approach of making class time fun, by using my experience to communicate my passion for learning to my students. I try to use the students classwork as a guide to helping the student learn the material.
Let's face it, not all students learn at the same rates as others. It is my experience that some students learn through repetition; just having extra practice helps the learning process.
While living in South America, I wrote a elementary math text book that is used seven schools and has helped more than 300 children with dialectical worksheets to learn basic math. We tested my text with children from age 4 through 10 and found that the children were engaged and began to enjoy a subject that was not their favorite. The end result is that they were learning, without knowing they were doing work.
I would sure love for the opportunity to share my love for learning. I hope to help your child fulfill her/his potential by reinforcing what they are learning in school.
Thank you for your consideration,
As an organic farm owner, I have had ample the opportunity to cook fresh whole foods in combinations that are exciting, fun, low sodium and heart healthy. I have cooked for vegetarian and omnivorous volunteers that lived at my home for extended stays while working on the farm and in the community. Although I have had no formal training in culinary arts, I take a fresh fun spin on fast healthy dining for families and university students who do not have lots of time to spend in the kitchen.
Study skills are all about time management. As a father and graduate student, I have had to balance my time between work, studying, and family. By helping students realize that they have enough time to do everything, study skills will improve.
From 1991 through 1995, I coached and taught swimming at Ladera Oaks Swim and Tennis Club and Sharon Heights Country Club. I have participated in swimming events, rough water swim races, swim meets, swim clubs and recreational swimming all my life. I have also volunteered as a swim instructor at the Community Association for the Retarded(CAR) in Palo Alto, California, working mainly with autistic children and helping them become water safe.
