I have been a high school science teacher for the past 6 years and have taught Earth/Space Science (Honors and Regular), Biology (Honors and Regular), as well as Physical/Integrated Science. I have a Bachelor's in Biology as well as minors in Chemistry and Business Administration from FIU. I then went on to obtain a Master's degree in Biomedical Science from Barry University.

During my last two years at FIU, I worked as a science and math tutor at MDC's Kendall campus where I helped students in classes ranging from intermediate algebra to college algebra and pre-calculus as well as introductory chemistry and biology courses all the way up to microbiology and organic chemistry. It was during graduate school that I started teaching and found a passion for it because I enjoy dispersing knowledge to people regardless of their abilities.

Besides teaching science at the high school level, I have been tutoring students of all ages in math and science (elementary all the way up to college). I can also assist in helping students pass private school entrance exams as well as in practicing the subjects tested in the state exams such as the FCAT math and end-of course exams in algebra 1, geometry, and of course biology.

In addition to tutoring core subjects in school, I also have experience in tutoring the Math section of the SAT and the math and science sections of the ACT as well as helping those individuals interested in obtaining their GED.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT Math

I have been tutoring ACT Math for the last 4 years. I am a high school science teacher who also does tutoring for the math department at the school.

ACT Science

I have been tutoring ACT Science for the last 4 years.

Algebra 1

I am currently a high school science teacher and prior to becoming a teacher, I worked as a tutor at the local community college tutoring students of all ages in a wide array of classes such as chemistry, biology, college algebra, pre-calculus, etc.

Algebra 2

I have been tutoring high school math both at the school and on my own for the past 4 years.

Biology

I have a Bachelor's degree in Biology and am currently a high school Biology teacher. I have taught all the way from low-level students to the Honors Biology classes as well as tutored some of the AP students in my school. The state has implemented an end-of-course exam (EOC) for all students taking biology in public or charter schools and last year I had the highest percentage of students passing the exam in the school and this year 55% of all my students passed it and 90% of my Honors students passed it.

Chemistry

I have a Bachelor's degree in Biology and a minor in chemistry. As an undergraduate student in college, I was pre-med and took various chemistry courses. For the past 6 years I have been a high school science teacher and have tutored the students taking chemistry, Honors chemistry, and some of the AP chemistry students.

Elementary Math

I am a high school science teacher and have been tutoring math not only at my school but also to other students of all ages (elementary to college) for the past 5 years.

I believe math an important subject that should be understood at an early age so as there is little to no difficulty once a student reaches the higher grade levels. Also, I feel that I can make math easy to understand for those students having difficulty in grasping the concepts.

Elementary Science

I am a high school science teacher who has taught earth/space, biology, and integrated science. All of these courses can be seen throughout the elementary school years and I can help students with projects as well as in passing the science FCAT.

GED

I am a high school science teacher with experience in tutoring math and the SAT. I believe that I can help you achieve a passing score on the GED. I make it easy for students to understand material that they are having difficulty in understanding. I have helped some of my former students whom have either dropped out of school or been kicked out and wish to attain this degree.

Geometry

I have been tutoring high school math both at the school and on my own for the past 4 years.

Prealgebra

Math has always been a strong point for me. I was always an advanced math student and pre-algebra was very easy for me and I would always help my classmates understand what was going on in the class. Currently I am a high school science teacher but have been doing math tutoring for students of all ages for the past 5 years and I believe that I cannot only prepare your child to do well in this class, but I can also give him/her a strong foundation for algebra 1.

PSAT

I am a high school science teacher who has been tutoring math for the past 5 years. I have tutored students from elementary all the way up to college but the most students I get are for SAT. The PSAT is a shorter and less complicated version of the SAT and I believe that I can get your child a good score on the exam and hopefully a score high enough that qualifies him/her for the National Merit Scholarship.

SAT Math

The first time I took the SAT was when I was in 7th grade and did fairly well for someone whom had not even taken algebra 1. Math was always one of my strongest subjects in school. Even though I am a high school science teacher, I have tutored SAT math for the past 5 years and the school at which I work has asked me to tutor students for the SAT when some of the math teachers cannot or simply do not want to come in on a weekend.

Spelling

Spelling always came easily to me as a child. Every year from 1st grade all the way up to 8th grade I was in my school's spelling bee and won either first or second place during 5 of those 8 years and represented my school two years at the county spelling be.

SSAT

I have tutored students on how to do well on this exam and almost all, if not all of them, have been accepted into the school they were applying to. I have experience tutoring SAT and other math courses and I believe I can help your child achieve his/her goal.

Study Skills

Many students say they study and still do poorly on exams. One of the main reasons for this is due to a lack of effective study skills. I can show you ways to improve your study skills such as proper note taking techniques that will maximize your ability to absorb and retain information. I can also help you look for key words in questions and other test taking skills that will definitely help improve your grades and scores on exams.
