Hello! I have earned a Bachelors in Psychology, a Masters in Sport Psychology (Graduation with Distinction) and I am currently pursuing my Doctorate in Psychology. My reading and writing skills have been honed over the years through my academic pursuits, and I have an easy-to-follow system teaching how to properly develop an idea into a well structured essay or thesis.

I have taught Chess for several years now, and currently rank in the 92 percentile Nation and Statewide. My strengths are strategy development and creative attack, as well as solid defense. I am a former NCAA Division I Baseball Player with International Experience and know what is required for peak performance in sports. My Masters thesis was on Effective Mental Skills Training and I am currently under the mentorship of a Major League Baseball Performance Coach. I'm fully fluent in both English and Spanish.

On the personal side, I am married to my best friend, a father of six (eldest 26, youngest 17) and I love working with children.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Baseball

I've played baseball from an early age in Puerto Rico, reaching the highest levels of the sport and representing my team in international competitions. I am a former NCAA Division I Baseball Player and a devoted fan. I'm currently under the tutelage of a Major League baseball performance coach in the development of effective mental skills training for baseball, which was also the emphasis of my Masters in Psychology work. I understand the fundamentals of the game and the nuances of high performance in this sport.

Bible Studies

I am a former licensed and ordained minister. My undergraduate work included such courses as Biblical Counseling, Preaching 101 and Evangelism. My minor is in Evangelism. I have studied the Bible in depth since an early age and have taught it to my children as well. My teaching method emphasizes the meaning behind scriptures and how to cross reference the entire book for a comprehensive understanding.

Chess

I have played competitive chess since the age of eight and maintain a 92 percentile with the U.S. Chess Federation. Prior to moving to Miami in the last six months, I taught in the Boca Raton and Palm Beach areas and assisted with school tournaments. My teaching method is easy to follow and emphasizes solid opening positions, strategy and focus. I also possess a Masters in Psychology with an emphasis on Mental Skills Training, which is essential in the game of chess.

Study Skills

Study skills is the ability to put aside the superfluous and focus on the relevant information most likely to appear in a test. Equally, when it comes to essay writing, study skills is the ability to do research, find the appropriate information, summarize and synthesize knowledge, and compose a well organized and compelling argument.

I have honed my study skills in the completion of my bachelor's and master's and continue to fine tune them in my PhD work. I have taught various subjects utilizing what I have learned in my academics pursuits, and I am well qualified to teach this ability.
