Hi,
If you're looking for an effective tutor with a strong background in education, then I'm the tutor for you.

My full-time job is a teacher's assistant at a school in Coconut Grove. I've worked as a tutor for over 7 years. I have experience with elementary, middle and high schoolers, as well as home-schooling. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Miami's School of Education, and I've worked with students of all different backgrounds, including those with special learning needs or cognitive disabilities. My subject areas run the gamut, but I have significant experience in math (pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, and general Math), language (including English, reading and reading comprehension, vocabulary and writing), and French (up to intermediate/advanced).

In addition to my work as a tutor, I have also worked in many schools in the Miami area. I have worked at both Ransom Everglades and Carrollton Schools. Currently I work in a Montessori School in Coconut Grove.

My philosophy for tutoring is "learn through doing." I prefer experiential learning techniques. I will not do a student's work for them. I prefer for them to immerse themselves in the subject matter, make their own mistakes and learn from them. I am extremely patient with my students, but I also expect a lot from them because I know that they are capable of more than they think. I know that I can help your student.

I can't wait to get started helping your student!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I am proficient in solving one and two step equations, graphing one and two step equations, writing, graphing and solving linear inequalities. I also possess knowledge of exponents and factoring, radicals and systems of equations.

Elementary (K-6th)

I've worked as a tutor for elementary and high school students for over seven years. I have home-schooled children in first and third grade, and I was their sole educational instructor. I graduated from the University of Miami's School of Education and have since worked in a variety of schools which has given me a strong background in this area.
