I'm a writer, a poet, and passionate about writing. Whether an essay, a letter, or a story, I believe that everyone has a voice, and can say things on paper that they cannot always say out loud.

When I was young, I had trouble speaking up, due to circumstances that I could not control. So I turned to pen and paper, to say everything I couldn't otherwise.

I write every day, and I am always looking for what's underneath the underneath, and I encourage you to do the same.

American History

To understand the history of the United States of America, one must start before the first Europeans set foot on these shores. What roles do race, religion, and the quest for wealth and land play in shaping our country? How does one read a document such as the US constitution?

Vocabulary

Vocabulary: the set of words that you learn and gather over time.

Whether by hearing, in reading, or through writing, you learn, master, and apply a language every day. Maybe you play word games, work crossword puzzles, or use a Word-A-Day calendar. These are great ways to learn new words, and expand your vocabulary.

Grammar

Reading is more than the scanning of dry data; it's a way of understanding the world around you, exploring a wide variety of ideas and places, and taking pleasure in the process.

Spelling

Life may not be a spelling bee, but knowing how to spell words can make reading, writing, and understanding English much easier. Yes, "I before E except after C"--but also the exceptions to that rule, such as feisty, or foreign.

What are the differences between two, to, and too? Or sum and some? Where does "silent e" come into play? And what is a schwa?

I can help you put the letters together, and that's a fine place to start.

Elementary Math

But there's so much more to math than that. It's a way of learning music, learning how to think, how to organize and arrange things. Those lines and squiggles? Just ways of telling you if you're adding, subtracting, multiplying...and so on.
