I am a current university student seeking an hourly position as a tutor. My schedule varies due to school and other priorities, but I am always willing to work with students on the schedules and fees. I am highly recommended and very experienced, having cared for special needs foster children and have previously provided tutoring for students ages 4 – 15. I have 5+ years of experience in both tutoring and child care, including over 75 hours with WyzAnt.

I provide hourly tutoring sessions for students ranging from ages 4 through 16. Math is my primary focus, but I have experience in all my qualified subjects. I have assisted with school projects (science fair projects/classroom projects), essay writing and homework assignments. Additionally, I have experience in helping write and edit admissions essays via email.

Algebra 1

I took Algebra 1 while still in middle school and received a final grade of an "A". This is one of my favorite subjects to do and to teach because there is such a variety of methods for solving Algebraic problems.

Vocabulary

As a university student, I have a wide range range of vocabulary. Each day is an opportunity to learn more and expand my word bank. As a tutor, I will implement the lessons I was taught to expand my vocabulary. Vocabulary is not about knowing a word and how to spell it, it's about understanding the word and creating meaning to the word. As a tutor, I'd help you/ your child "understand" their vocabulary.

Grammar

Grammar is a fundamental part of learning. I believe every child should have the experience in learning grammar skills and basic grammar "rules". I did phenomenal in my Advanced English Language and Composition course and have taken workshops specific to grammar. I think I have what it takes to instill grammar education in you/ your child.

Geometry

From Pythagorean theorem to the areas of triangles, circles, and rectangles, I am proficient in Geometry. I have a very strong background in Algebra, which is a foundation of Geometry. I have tutored this subject before and feel like I can contribute to the reinforcement in this subject for your child.

Prealgebra

I was an Advanced Algebra student in high school and am currently taking College Algebra so it is fresh in my mind. Math is my favorite subject, and I have a vast experience in tutoring this subject.

Reading

Reading is a fundamental part of learning any subject. I believe that reading is the limelight to success and without it, there will be immense struggle. When tutoring in reading, I make sure students thoroughly understand what they're reading and they fully comprehend the surrounding material. I emphasize the use of context clues and inference clues.

Writing

I have passed AP Language and Composition and have written such a huge variety of essays, research papers, summaries, etc. In my opinion, writing is such a crucial part of education. I have excellent grammar skills, a strong vocabulary, and much experience tutoring.

Statistics

Statistics requires a variety of background knowledge, including a strong understanding of vocabulary and a sufficient comprehension of material from mainly Algebra. I tutor primarily Algebra, and I feel very comfortable in my knowledge of the material in Statistics. I passed AP Statistics with an "A", and I did well on the exam.

English

I have taken English Language and Composition at an advanced level so I have a strong background in grammar and writing. I also have previously tutored students in English in various grade levels.

Proofreading

"There is always room for improvement." is a common phrase used my teachers. Proofreading is an additional set of eyes to review work and implement new ideas to improve your writing. I think I would be an asset to proofreading any of your/ your child's work.

SAT Writing

My junior year in high school, I passed AP Language and Composition with an "A". During the final two years of high school, I had written such a plethora of multiple varieties of writing. Spelling

I have been a great speller since my Elementary years. Spelling doesn't come naturally; it takes practice. As a tutor, I will be constantly rehearsing the sounds of letters and how they bind to create words: spelling.

Elementary Math

I have tutored several students in Elementary level math. Math is one of my favorite subjects, and I truly enjoy working with students in this subject.

Elementary Science

From matter to energy to the types of rock, Elementary science is my kind of subject! I am currently majoring in a science field, and I have experience in tutoring science. When tutoring science in the past, I've helped students complete science experiments, class projects, and research.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have tutored students from as young as 4 years old. One of my strengths is math, specifically Elementary- level math. I've also tutored in reading and writing at an Elementary level. I am involved in many extra- curricular activities involving children and believe their education is a primary priority.

Study Skills

I am a current university student who has always maintained good study habits, and I would be an asset in helping you/ your child study as well. Many people are passive learners and are used to memorizing before tests. What is more crucial to memorizing is understanding. I'd be thrilled to be an additional motivator to you/ your child.

I am currently an undergraduate university student. Before being accepted to 7 out of the 8 universities I applied to, I had completed countless hours of research on various universities and their programs. I also have experience applying for financial aid, like Florida's Bright Futures, FAFSA, and many scholarships.
