For nearly four decades, I taught courses on ancient Greek and Roman art, during which I often pointed out similarities and contrasts with the art of other countries and times.
As a professor, I taught elementary and advanced courses in the ancient Greek and Latin languages, ancient Greek and Roman literature in translation, and ancient history. My specialties, on which I wrote a book and many articles, are the ancient epic (the Iliad, Odyssey and Aeneid) and Greek tragedy.
I am eager to tutor beginners or more advanced students in Ancient Greek. I have a PhD in Classics from Columbia University. From 1974 through 2000, I was a professor of Classics at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. I taught courses at all levels of ancient Greek. Classics journals have published many articles that I wrote on aspects of ancient Greek literature.
