on Tutoring and Teaching:
1. Good learning is like taking a journey to a new place.
How? Journeys are exciting, thought provoking and open our minds to new things. Learning that happens on a journey is joyful and meaningful. That's how I want my students to feel about their education.
2. An effective teacher uses creative lesson planning to engage students in learning.
When planning a tutoring lesson, I ask myself how to present the material in the most engaging way possible for that particular student. Students must be motivated and interested in learning before they can accomplish their best.
3. Students must have clear goals and manageable steps to make their learning goals come true.
As a traveler, I have found that creating an itinerary makes it more possible to do and see more things. After each tutoring session, I write a summary of the session and explain the next steps to success that we discussed in the lesson.
4. Satisfied students are successful students.
I will go above and beyond to ensure that you had a successful tutoring session by writing follow up emails and taking suggestions into account to constantly become a more effective tutor.

I personally love math. Why? Math is about finding connections, discerning patterns. When kids tell me they aren't good at math, I tell them they aren't looking...
1. Can you tell me the main idea of this section?
Finding the main idea in text is a huge focus of testing, and an essential skill for good readers. Every book, every article, every website has a main idea and supporting details. If you practice doing this frequently, your child will be vastly better prepared
to do well in school and to understand his or her reading. Your child's response...
When I taught 3rd grade, my students were at all different stages of learning to read. We would say that up to a certain point, when kids are learning the letter sounds and piecing the words together, they were learning to read. Once they were able to read
most words and move on to longer and more complicated texts, they were reading to learn.
