As a freelance reporter for The Miami Herald, I worked with several editors to refine my writing and editing skills.
As a middle school English and Journalism teacher, I developed interactive and engaging lessons needed to foster an efficient learning environment.
Now, I want to put my background to good use.
During a three-month span, I provided 8th grade students with the tools to improve the class’ FCAT Writing Scores. No students received a score lower than a 3 on a 1-6 scale, while the class passing rate increased from 46 percent last year to 77 percent this year.
I graduated from Florida International University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Communications in April 2010, and I became eligible for my temporary certificate covering English grades 6-12 on June 2010.
While taking education courses, I became familiar with ways to incorporate technology into the curriculum. I took six courses including a graduate level course to help students with their reading.
