I like teaching. For over twenty years I have taught hundreds of students in South Florida. My subjects are English (essays, creative writing, business and technical writing), ESL, and public speaking. My students have attended Florida International University, the University of Miami, Barry University, Miami Dade College, and Miami Dade Public Schools. I also have done corporate training. My undergraduate degree is in journalism from Michigan State University; my master's degree is in business from Florida International University. I am dedicated, patient, and have a sense of humor.

Grammar

A good writer uses grammar to build on the idea he/she wants to convey to the reader. As an ESL and English instructor (essay writing, business writing, technical writing), I help students express themselves clearly, concisely, and correctly by teaching them how to incorporate good grammar (the rules of the language) into their writing.

Writing

I have taught writing -- essays, business writing, technical writing -- to native and non-native speakers of the English language for many years at various schools in South Florida, including Florida International University, Miami Dade College, and the University of Miami.

English

I have taught English composition, literary analysis, business writing, and technical writing to countless students for twenty years at Florida International University and the University of Miami.

GRE

As an English professor with many years of teaching experience, I have helped students prepare for the verbal section -- reading comprehension, critical reasoning, verbal usage -- and the analytical writing section of the GRE.

ESL/ESOL

I have fifteen-plus years experience teaching ESL in the areas of writing, grammar, reading, and conversation, primarily advanced levels. I taught adult education ESL with the Miami Dade Public School System (1991-2005), Miami Dade College (1995-2005), and the Intensive Language Institute (1991-1993) at Florida International University. I was certified by the state of Florida to teach in the Miami Dade Public School System.

Public Speaking

I was the director of the Oral Presentation Lab in the Department of Speech Communication at Florida International University from 2008-2009. The lab was created to assist the university community (primarily students) with feedback on oral presentations by focusing on vocal delivery, body gestures, and PowerPoint organization. I also taught a popular course, Business & Professional Communication, in which individual and group presentations were taught to students.

Film

I have taught film studies at Florida International University, focusing on the history of American film from early twentieth century to the present, as well as foreign cinema: Spanish, French, Italian, German, and Australian.
