Computer Programming

I graduated from the University of Havana and have a B.Sc. in Computer Science and Mathematics. I have been a researcher in applied mathematics for more than 20 years. I have participated in many research projects that involved real-world applications that implied implementation, testing and parameter adjustments of numerical algorithms, using mainly FORTRAN and MATLAB.
I have a lot of publications which I have written using different editors: Word, Scientific Word, etc. I have presented my scientific results using PowerPoint.
As a teacher. I have used Excel for recording my students' grades and also I have taught a subject in the MBA program based upon the use of EXCEL for the practical implementation of Business Models.

Discrete Math

I have been a teacher of Calculus I through IV, Linear Algebra, Finite Mathematics, Intermediate Algebra, College Algebra and Trigonometry, Developmental Mathematics, Quantitative Methods for Decision Making, Numerical Optimization; at both, undergraduate and graduate levels. I am also a researcher in the field of numerical optimization methods, with 30 years of experience and a vast record of publications and applications of algorithms and development and implementation of computer codes to real-life problems.

Fortran

I have a PH.D in Mathematics from the Cuban Academy of Science, thus I'm quite capable of teaching scientific programming (FORTRAN is used specifically for this kind of programming) together with the mathematics that helps to make most optimized program codes.

Approved Subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet certified in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
