I began playing trumpet and studying music over fourteen years ago.
During high school I had the privilege to work with great trumpet players such as John Hagstrom of the Chicago Symphony, Phil Smith of the New York Philharmonic, Ray Mase of the Juilliard School, and Mark Gould of the Juilliard School. During college I majored in music performance at Appalachian State University and the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. I have played with the North Carolina Symphony, the Western Piedmont Symphony, the Winston-Salem Symphony, and the Greensboro Symphony. Other musicians that I have worked with include Jens Lindemann of the University of California Los Angeles, Matthias Kamp of the German Opera Comique, Chris Martin of the Chicago Symphony, Wayne Bergeron of the California State University, as well as various professors of trumpet.
I began teaching lessons in college and had a studio of 13 students ranging from beginners to advanced players. My pedagogy includes a routine comprised of a compilation of the most famous routines used by mainstream trumpet players. I teach a very traditional repertoire with a contemporary twist. I have had students successfully audition for youth symphonies, school auditions, and various other auditions.
