Bonjour, my name is Anne and I would like to help you reach your goals in French language and culture in a comfortable and fun atmosphere.

I was born in Reunion Island near Madagascar then I moved to Provence in the south of France when I was a teenager. I have traveled extensively and therefore I know what it is to learn a new language. Thus far I have been fortunate enough to have lived and worked in the USA, Japan, Spain, France and so many other places simply because I just can’t get enough of the variety the world has to offer! I really hope you are ready to share your culture with me in a new language, French. I have been teaching for over seven years now and I’m happy to go to work everyday because I know I’m going to meet amazing people and create lifelong memories.

I have two Masters degrees specializing in education: one in English as a second language (ESL), the other in language sciences dedicated to teaching French for foreigners (FLE). This curriculum specializes in designing teaching material as well as it focuses on foreign languages' didactics.

I put to use a wide range of instructing skills since I teach French and English to all ages and all levels. I also work on specific objectives as I have extensive experience teaching within companies wanting to improve their business relationships with French and English speaking countries. Moreover, I commonly teach classes preparing students for exams such as the DELF, DALF, and Cambridge programs. Therefore, I have learned to work with various methods and according to very specific demands.

Along with teaching languages, I was a snowboard instructor for four years (three seasons in Breckenridge, Colorado, then one season in Japan). This taught me how to adjust to any type of learning situation and how to react to a demanding and heterogeneous public.
So whether you’re a novice or an advanced speaker, I offer lessons for every skill level to build a sense of passion for French and France!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ESL/ESOL

For each class I provide all the documents needed, however I send them to my students via email and it is up to them to print them out.

Second language learners have very specific needs, I train them to succeed according to their goals or to the test's requirements if they decided to take one. The training focuses on all four skills (reading, listening, writing, speaking) and a particular attention is paid to each student's weaknesses (it could include grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation...).

I think the best way to improve requires evaluating students' skills and then focusing on their personal weaknesses. The native language is also to be taken into consideration as difficulties may vary from one to the other (a Spanish speaker will not have the same difficulties a Chinese speaker encounters).

I also recommend a few books students can find on Amazon that have proven useful to all my students.
