AS a math teacher, I always have one goal for my students, which is to learn, understand, and hopefully enjoy math. To attain this goal, I use several strategies in developing my classroom.
The first strategy is to create a safe atmosphere where students can learn from their mistakes, and not be embarrassed by not having the correct answer. I believe it is vital in a classroom. Students need to be encouraged when they feel down or inadequate in the classroom. They have to know they have a teacher behind them encouraging them all the way.
The second strategy is to implement a cooperative learning environment where students can learn from each other. Some students are shy when it comes to speaking up because they do not want to be wrong. A good way to remedy this situation is to have open-ended questions where a lot of answers are correct.
The last strategy is to motivate students to enjoy the subject matter more by encouraging them to express their opinion. Students are the hope of tomorrow. The better they are prepared the better will be our society.
