I first began my tutoring experience while I was still in high school. For one year, I was in a homeschooling program while I tutored 3rd graders. I would spend my days at the elementary school while other kids my age were going to high school, and I continued with my school studies at night.
I have three children- 12, 7, and 5- and am deeply involved with their studies. I like to introduce different ways of solving problems that differ from what their teachers have shown them. I believe this gives children a better chance for success. If they know several different ways to go about finding an answer, chances are they will have a much higher success rate in all that they do. Sometimes all it takes is a different view or perception of a problem to better understand how to solve it.
My strong points are in math, reading, and speech but can also be very helpful with science and history.
