I’m a considerate, well-educated and experienced teacher. I have a MS & beyond with 50 yrs of experience. I have worked with children and adults whose interest and abilities vary drastically. My expertise is in the area of writing/grammar, but I am also qualified in literature, speech, and critical thinking. Excluding my own children, I have taught children from ages 5 to 17 and adults from 18 to 66. I have taught, coached or consulted on some type of writing from elementary, to college level students, including the business realm.I have written several short stories, poems and a novel. I’m very comfortable with one-on-one, IEP, and group form teaching and learning. I'm a Christian who raised five children, coached several sports, owned an art and sign business as well as a furniture repair and refinishing shop.

ADD/ADHD

I have been involved in differential education, as an educator (junior - senior high school and college levels), for 28 years. I have dealt with many areas of differential learning in many ways, but as an educator I have been primarily involved through the mainstreaming processes. I have worked with and taught ADD/HD children as a public school class room teacher for 28 years, with adults at the college level for 6 years and in private one-on-one instruction for 18 years. I have a BS in Psychology, a BS in Secondary Education, English, as well as a Master’s Degree in Education and Communications. I have been certified and professionally trained in the field of ADD/HD through the PA Act 48 Program and other ADD/HD focus workshops. I have also had graduate level courses in psychology including diagnostics, referral and treatment through a course of study on the DSM –IV-TR manual.

Aspergers

I have an MS in Education and Communications with 50 yrs of experience. I possess certification in differential learning and a Master’s Degree in Education and Communications. I have been involved in differential education, as an educator (junior - senior high school and college levels), for 28 years. I have dealt with many areas of differential learning in many ways, but as an educator I have been primarily involved through the mainstreaming processes. I have taught autistic, Aspergers, Down’s, ADD’s, HD’s and other learning disabled children and adults. I have worked with them to help them improve their reading, writing, speaking, swimming, and springboard diving skills. I have worked with infants (my own and myself) through persons 88 years old. I have worked with them in private, one-on-one sessions, and in a public school classroom setting. In addition, I am a differential learner: simple autism (dream state day dreaming), Attention-Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder as well as being mildly dyslexic.

Bible Studies

Although I’m not a Bible expert, I’m a very knowledgeable student. I have studied Biblical concepts and principals for over 55 years. While doing so, I have been given the privilege of conducted seminars, leading small group studies, be a church Elder, and also a spiritual counselor. The specific areas of interest and instruction, for me, are: marriage strengthening and survival; divorce care/reconciliation; parenting and men’s ministries.

Career Development

I have been in the field of career education for 35 years. I have taught and coached individuals at the high school, college levels as well as privately. The focus is on research and preparation for a successful career experience. The primary areas of concern are understanding/preparation for the career of interest, preparing the paperwork needed, surviving the interview and landing the job.

Drawing

I am a trained and experienced artist. I owned and operated an art, sign and advertising studio for 35 years. Drawing and painting are the focal points of this type of business, thus I’m very knowledgeable. I’m familiar with most mediums: ink, pencil, pastels, oils, water color, acrylics, and vinyl. I have also taught advertising design and layout at the college level.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have a Master’s Degree in Education; English. I have been a grammar and writing instructor as well as a tutor for K-12 and college. My experience as an instructor and professional writer span 40 years.

Public Speaking

I have been a public speaker for 45 years. I have taught this magnificent art to children as well as adults and for many different purposes. I have taught at the junior/senior high level, college level and military training level. As an educator, I have honed this art in the class room as well in the public forum of mediation. I have been an organizer and presenter of many workshop in the areas of public speaking, springboard diving and swimming, document security and public speaking to military personnel, writing, karate and many other areas. I have also been a judge for the PA Eastern Region Debate Championships for home schooled children.

Softball

I have coached and officiated girls, fast-pitch softball for 13 years. I was a head coach of several local teams and often the championship team’s head coach for this leagues state playoffs. I also organized two tournaments and hosted five training camps – two five-days and three weekends. I was also a high school assistant coach for one year and we did ended up in district play.

I have been in the field of education for 48 years. I have taught and coached individuals from grades 3 through college level, as well as private instruction. One of my prime sources of instruction is through the Cornell method of study and note taking. I have taught and used this system for over 28 years with great success. I have also worked with the Pennsylvania Department of Education for teacher training as a study/curriculum advisor. In addition, study skills are also a great part of the teacher education at large and I have both a Master’s Degree in Education and study skills training through the PA Act 48 Professional Education Management System.

Swimming

I have been in the field of swimming and diving for 43 years as a participant, a coach and a PIA Official. Although my primary strength is in springboard diving, I have been very active in swimming. I was a both a swimmer and diver through high school and college. I have trained swimmers at the youth (summer and “Y”) leagues, high school leagues, PA State Games leagues, and have qualified many participants to state championship qualification. I was a coached for 15 years. I was also a PIAA Swimming & Diving Official for 13 years.

Writing

I am an experienced writing coach and grammarian who has been in the writing profession for 40 years. I have written everything from newspaper classified ads to a full length novel and most everything in between. I have taught from the elementary to the college level as well as general adult tutoring/consulting. I posses a Master of Science Degree in education and communications and have done doctoral work in the communications area as well.
