I have a Masters in Special Education and have taught in Elementary: K-8th, Special Needs High Schools and at the community college level for adult students who needed to learn English or pass the GED. I am bilingual: English and Spanish. My strong areas in tutoring include helping struggling readers, understanding grammar, vocabulary development, improving reading comprehension, helping English Language Learners and providing interventions for students with Special Needs. I could also help with K-8th Math , prealgebra, and Algebra I. I like to teach students both reading and math problem strategies to encourage them to become more independent in their questioning and problem solving approaches. For students who need to increase their score on the TOEFL, I also have experience helping international students raise their writing and reading comprehension scores. In general, I have a very good personality and enjoy conversations; therefore, if your goal is to increase listening comprehension or improve your conversational English, then I could help you. Hi,

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
