What are your child’s struggles? What is his/her learning style? I am the tutor for you! I have a great amount of success in adapting my teaching style to the needs and learning styles of a classroom of learners as well as individually to those I am tutoring. I am a favorite tutor with parents, children and education evaluators, especially FCAT preparation and subjects like reading, writing, and math.

Previously an accountant, I am now a trained, certified schoolteacher, experienced in all elementary education areas and all elementary and middle high school levels of math in addition to tutoring and substituting through high school. With my classroom experience, I have valuable insight into the best teaching methods and how to help students understand difficult concepts.

I look forward to working with you and your child.

ACT Math

I was a staff accountant in a certified public accounting office for many years before I began working on my teaching degree.

I bring all of this previous experience plus the additional training, education, and experience of a school teacher together for my students in our tutor sessions. The best ways to learn new tasks is to make them personally meaningful and this helps students to retain information long after tests are taken.

ACT Reading

I have developed a reading program centered around reading passage comprehension, identifying answers to multiply choice questions on Specific Detail, Inference, Understanding Character, Point of View, Cause and Effect, Comparison, Vocabulary, and Main Idea. Working with the student, I administer practices and evaluate their answers. Then we evaluate and I explain how to correctly respond to specific test answers.

Algebra 1

I specialize in weekly Algebra 1 lessons, in addition to well developed Algebra 1 Florida End of Course Assessment preparation sessions.

It is my strong background as an accountant before I trained as a teacher, that I bring together to successfully evaluate needs and solutions for my students in our tutor sessions. I help them to find multiple ways to solve problems when they are presented with questions that they are unsure of the answers. I have found that the best ways to integrate facts and new data are to make them personally meaningful and this helps to retain information long after tests are taken.

Glynda's the best for SAT tutoring My high school daughter was an excellent student but couldn't seem to achieve the score she wanted on the math portion of the SAT. Following a series of great sessions with Glynda she raised her score 50 points and was thrilled. Glynda made the concepts much more understandable with her hands on approach and patient attitude. The end results were more than worth the investment and I give Glynda 2 ...
