I have always had an interest in coaching and teaching others. My experience began with teaching my younger brother to read before he entered Kindergarten. I was very interested in working one-on-one with others who were struggling in their subjects. My passion for English, Reading, Spelling and Grammar enabled me to be an "A" student in these areas all through school and into college.

In addition, I have also worked as a tutor for One-on-One Learning, Inc. preparing elementary school students for successful completion of the FCAT exam.

My teaching style is demonstrating skills and processes and then coaching and guiding students to develop and apply the skills and knowledge. In other words, I like to "show" and then support the student in mastering the task. Empowering the student to be in charge of their learning encourages their participation and interest in learning the subject matter.

Proofreading

Assist students in reading and identifying the grammar rules for capitalization and punctuation. Practice putting into correct passage the commonly confused words such as, too, two, to. Identify and correct misspelled words. As an avid proofreader, I have always been asked to proofread documents in my personal life as well as in the working environment.

Elementary (K-6th)

I possess specialized skills and knowledge in tutoring English, Reading, and Math within all elementary grade levels. I have also tutored elementary school students in preparing them to pass the FCAT. I am able to teach according to individual learning styles which increases learner fluency and ability. I have provided tutoring services after school as well as within in-home settings.

Phonics

I served as a tutor for One on One Learning teaching the sound/symbol relationship of letters, and the blending of these sounds together into words. Elementary Math

Math can be a very difficult subject to learn, but with persistence and patience, a student can greatly improve their understanding of mathematic operations. I believe that students should know multiplication tables instead of finger counting. Learning division before introducing fractions is the proper order to learn for greater comprehension and application.
