I believe that an effective teacher is not just a result of education, but is also a result of practical experience in assisting, both, student and adult learners. I have been teaching students with learning disabilities for the past eight years, and I am well-qualified to assist students and adult learners with their academic learning needs.
Discrete mathematics can make math concepts come alive for the students. It is an excellent tool for improving reasoning and problem-solving skills, and it is appropriate for students at all levels and of all abilities. As an educator and tutor, I have found that discrete mathematics offers a way of motivating the unmotivated student, while continually challenging talented students as well. Because many discrete math problems are simply stated and have few mathematical prerequisites, this type of mathematical structure is often introduced at the middle school grade level.
I am seeking a position to tutor students for Elementary (K-6) in all general subjects in tutoring. As I have obtained my undergraduate degree, Bachelor's in Business Administration, and advanced my studies, Master's in Exceptional Student Education, my qualifications to tutor, holds several key listings. I have strong communication skills and ability to interact with students from diverse backgrounds, understanding of elementary curriculum and requirements for FCAT 2.0, SAT and other exams, able to adapt to all learning styles and provide personalized educational strategies for every student to ensure they reach their full potential
My background in education and teaching credentials are well versed in all aspects of the educational system. I am patient, understanding, and able to listen effectively to understand student’s frustrations and struggles with subject matter. Keeping up with all new updates in technology and teaching methods are an essential to ensure each student benefits from the latest available techniques and information, and access to a wide variety of teaching materials to assist with increasing understanding of subject matter and provide personalized tools for learning.
Over the past eight years, I have worked with students one-on-one, individually and in groups to promote full academic functioning. I also provide job coaching to students by implementing behavioral managment strategies. I collaborate with students, parents and special education instructors via homework to help students transition independently, and teach students to maintain positive learning environments.
One of the most useful lifetime skills that can be shared with students is to promote good study habits. As a tutor, I have found that teaching study skills daily— as part of the opening of the assignment, as a transition activity, or as part of the close of assignment— can be very effective, and not too time-consuming. In fact, time can be saved if the student is taught how to study, because then the tutor will not have to re-teach material throughout the assignment.
