Are you having trouble with certain concepts in your classes? Do you know the material, but somehow you are not able to perform well on homework/quizzes/tests? Or, are you looking to get a head start on a new course? My name is Frank and I have successfully helped students with the previous three scenarios (and more). As your tutor, I will use an analytical approach to evaluate your overall knowledge and find ways to help you reach your target goals and excel.

My love for education started in elementary school and persists to this day. Math and science are my strongest areas, and I majored in Biology and Neuroscience during my undergraduate career at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. To me, simply learning and doing nothing with the material is no fun. I find more satisfaction in using what I have learned to help others. It was this feeling that encouraged me to become a Teaching Assistant for an undergraduate microbiology laboratory course, which has been one of my most meaningful experiences. For once, I was on the other side of the teacher's desk. I helped students perform experiments and understand concepts that were covered in the lecture course, and in turn, I gained skills in communication and teaching.

During our sessions, I will use an active learning approach to help you with concepts or problems that are troublesome. My goal is not only to help you understand the material. I also want you to be proficient at what you are doing. Allow me to help you achieve success in the classroom and beyond!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Biology

B.S. in Biology and Neuroscience, Microbiology Teaching Assistant

Chemistry

I can help with General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry.

Geometry

As a geometry and algebra student, I loved going to class everyday and learning how to manipulate numbers and mathematical expressions as they applied to geometric figures. Understanding math and excelling at it takes plenty of practice and patience, and I will walk with you through many different problems and explanations until you are able to articulate mathematical ideas in your sleep.

Organic Chemistry

I took Organic Chemistry I and II with lab during my sophomore year in college and I loved helping my fellow classmates with concepts that they had trouble with. To me, doing practice problems was fun because organic chem seemed like a puzzle book in which we knew the pieces we had (simple reactions and the starting molecules) but had to figure out how to get to the final end product via certain pathways. Whenever my friends and I met up to study for quizzes and exams, we would always bounce problems and ideas off each other; this is a technique I plan to employ while tutoring since it actively engages everyone in thought and encourages active thinking. I am also a graduating pre-med student at Emory University.

Awesome Tutor! — I joined WyzAnt not too long ago in search for a Physics tutor to help me with understanding some concepts I needed to take the MCAT for admissions to medical school. I had been far removed from my college Physics classes thus, was looking for a tutor that would not only refresh my memory but help me to comprehend and begin applying the Physics concepts. Shortly after reaching out to a number of ...
