I am a proud graduate of the University of Florida, where I majored in psychology. While in high school and college, I tutored other students in a variety of subjects. I have tutored all ages from elementary to graduate students. I have a minor in English and music. On the pre-med track I received A's in anatomy/physiology, microbiology, chemistry, statistics 1 & 2, nutrition, and many other science/math courses. I have played the piano and the violin for ten years and am certified. I have aced several technological courses such as Adobe Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and other graphic design programs. I am well versed in 2D animation and web design. I was also chief editor/designer for my high school's newspaper and yearbook.

Dedication, patience, and adjusting to the specific needs of students are a few of my methods when tutoring. Each individual has his/her own learning style, and I try to cater to whatever that may be. Some students need the information to be applied to everyday situations, whereas others simply are visual learners. Children respond better with visual stimulation and rewards. Whatever your specific learning need may be, my technique will be customized to meet you where you are. I look forward to working with you.

ACT Reading

What to expect:
•40 questions
•35 minutes
•4 reading passages with multiple choice questions following each reading passage.

The ACT Reading test for many students is the most difficult of the three other multiple-choice tests on the exam. I teach strategies! Strategy 1: Time Awareness Strategy 2: Passage selectonStrategy 3: Underline and Summarize Strategy 4: Cover The Answers Strategy 5: Review The Reading Basics (You will be tested on whether or not you can find the main idea, understand vocabulary in context, detect the author's purpose, and make an inference. You'll also need to be able to quickly and accurately find details inside the paragraphs, kind of like a word search!)

ACT Science

The Science Test is a 40-question, 35-minute test that measures the skills required in the natural sciences: interpretation, analysis, evaluation, reasoning, and problem solving. The content of the Science Test includes biology, chemistry, physics, and the Earth/space sciences (for example, geology, astronomy, and meteorology).

The test presents seven sets of scientific information, each followed by a number of multiple-choice test questions. The scientific information is presented in one of three different formats:
•data representation (graphs, tables, and other schematic forms)
•research summaries (descriptions of one or more related experiments)
•conflicting viewpoints (expressions of several related hypotheses or views that are inconsistent with one another)

My goals are to help students:
•recognize and understand the basic features of, and concepts related to, the provided information
•examine critically the relationship between the information provided and the conclusions drawn or hypotheses developed
•generalize from given information and draw conclusions, gain new information, or make predictions

Adobe Photoshop

I have taught 2d-animation and graphic design for 3 years. This class uses Adobe Photoshop as its primary computer program. Photoshop's principal image manipulation procedures are: contrast and brightness control, color balance and correction and the use of filter algorithms to provide image blur, despeckle, sharpening, unsharp masking, and dust and scratch removal. With practice, the toolbox allows for the elimination of parts of the image, and the paintbrush and pipette to fill in.

Algebra 1

Algebra is translated to mean the "reunion of broken parts". It is the branch of mathematics that studies of the rules of operations and relations, and the concepts involved with this. Certain topics in Algebra include: polynomials, equations and algebraic structures. Algebra involves so many branches of math. For example: geometry, analysis of functions and number theory. I try to make this process as simple as possible.

The ASVAB tests are designed to measure aptitudes in four domains: Verbal, Math,
Science and Technical, and Spatial. For this particular test practice literally makes perfect. nMy strategy is simple: we take a pre-test and access students strengths and weaknesses. We continue to increase strengths and focus on weaknesses. Tackle and master the test in sections.

The ASVAB is a multiple choice test so tips/strategies on how to take these forms of tests are also taught. For example: how to weed out incorrect answers or what to do when more then one answer appears correct.

I coached basketball for several years with an after school sports program. I personally played basketball in highschool and received a scholarship to play in college. furthermore, while in college I volunteered as a coach in the local YMCA. I love the sport and I'm very passionate about it.

College Counseling

First of all, I have a bachelor's in psychology which provides insight on effective counseling techniques. I have worked with community programs that deal with college counseling for at risk youth. I've spoken and given many presentations to several high school graduating classes about college classes, what to expect, determining majors, etc. I have worked one-on-one with students to set career goals and create an academic road map to help them get where they want to be. Additionally, I am a recent college graduate an know exactly what a student will face as they embark on their college career.

I am a psychology/education major specializing in Special Needs. I taught classes with students who had dyslexia for over 3 years. Additionally I've conducted sessions and had to diagnosis students with dyslexia. There are different degrees of dyslexia and every student is different. I cater to each students specific learning style.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have taken courses in elementary education. These courses include: Child Psychology, Development Curriculum, Development Education of the Exceptional Child,Introduction to Education, Philosophy of Education,Teaching English as a Second Language, and Teaching Science/English/Mathematics/etc. Furthermore I have taught several small groups of children in elementary subjects ranging from math to drama.

Study Skills

Studying is not always the simplest task for many. I taught a course entitled "Study Skills" to high school students. Studying has always been a second nature to me. I base my study advice on the individual.

I've tutored the TEAS for the past two years. I have a minor in English so I am over qualified to address the sections (paragraph and passage comprehension and drawing conclusions, grammar and punctuation, and spelling.)
I have been a teachers aid in college math courses through Calculus with applied physics. The math section contains fairly basic math problems (whole numbers, fractions and decimals, percentages and proportion).
Finally I am a med student so the science is familiar to me. Some areas include biology, chemistry, and anatomy all of which I have tutored in.
My TEAS students have all given me positive feedback and have done well on the exam.

Being a person who loves the arts I have been involved in theatre for many years. In college coursework included theatre appreciation, acting for non-majors, script writing, etc. I have participated in several plays such as Broadway Bound, As You Like It, Grapes of Wrath, etc. I have also composed and performed several monologues, poems, scenes, and skits. In my spare time I directed several plays in my college career. I was an aid who taught acting 101 while a professor supervised my progress through bi-weekly verbal reports.

Great all around tutor Caroline was amazing. I would recommend her highly. She not only helped my son with SAT test questions and prep but she gave him pointers of when to take the test, sign up for the ACT, tell him what colleges look for, help with college essays, etc. She also provided him with lots of encouragement and positive praise during the lessons. In addition she organized the lessons on what the testing con ...
