I am a professional tutor providing private tutoring, training and coaching services to adult learners and those requiring assistance in advancing to their next level in career or life.
I specialize in tutoring adults in all aspects of the English language, including: Grammar, Spelling, Vocabulary, Reading Comprehension and Writing. For professionals, I provide customized training in Business Communications and Public Speaking, as well as motivational coaching and accountability. For job seekers, I assist with the preparation of professional cover letters and resumes, teach interview skills, and provide tutoring for pre-employment exams (such as TEAS, CJBAT and ASVAB). For those entering secondary school, college, or post-graduate education, I specialize in SSAT, PSAT, SAT, ACT and LSAT Test Prep (Verbal, English, Reading, Writing), as well as assist in essay and interview preparations. In all aspects, I serve as an inspiring coach, motivator and confidence builder.
My preferred meeting locations are public libraries with study rooms: Hollywood Branch (Hollywood); Miramar Branch (Miramar); South West Regional Library (Pembroke Pines); Weston Branch (Weston); NOVA Univ./Alvin Sherman Library (Davie) and the N. Lauderdale Saraniero Branch (North Lauderdale). I will also meet at locations such as Barnes and Nobles, Starbucks or, in some instances, at the student’s home. Please note that all sessions are a minimum of 2 hours in length.
Personally, my career background was actually in Public Administration and I hold both Bachelor's and Master's Degrees. I have also served for many years as a trainer for professionals, and most recently, as a life coach, motivational speaker and workshop presenter. I am bi-lingual, speaking both English and Spanish proficiently. My best skill is communication: verbal and written, personal and business/professional. As such, a cherished accomplishment was being selected as the February 2005 Commencement Speaker for Kaiser Career College in Pembroke Pines, FL.
I enjoy tutoring a great deal - the subjects which I tutor are my passions and it shows! I am gifted to be able to spark the student's interest, hold their attention and maintain their focus by presenting the material in a variety of creative and innovative methods. I work to assess and address deficiencies resulting from earlier disconnects in learning, progressing the student at his/her own pace, while simultaneously challenging them to move forward to new vistas. I am a strong proponent of positive feedback and encouragement...building the student's self-esteem and confidence as we build skill and proficiency in the subject area. Regular feedback and skill assessment is provided, as well as homework assignments (in most cases) to further hone skills and continue learning through consistent practice.
