Hello, Everyone! Allow me to share a bit about myself as a tutor. My goal is to get the most out of you and your abilities. I believe I can do that because I know how to communicate what I know in clear and concise ways. The key to learning something or improving your skills in an area is to go simply step-by-step, beginning with the foundation. Once you understand that, then it will become much easier to learn the more complex and intricate concepts. Things that appear to be complicated are often much more simple in reality; we just need to know how to properly break them down and go step-by-step.
I believe I'm a natural teacher because throughout high school, college, and even today in graduate school, I've always mentored other students, by helping them to learn things they were struggling with on their own. This includes writing reports as well as understanding difficult concepts. The reason I have had success is because I have good communication skills and excel at expressing my ideas.
I graduated college from Florida International University a few years ago with a bachelor's degree in environmental studies and a minor in agro-ecology. I believe I am a good tutor for students of all ages because I have recent first hand experience with what college and high school students are faced with in this day and age. I would also be an excellent tutor for elementary and middle school students because I relate to kids very well. I will manage to keep it fun and interesting while creating an atmosphere conducive to learning. Another important thing is knowing how to speak to kids in ways they understand. In my opinion, the reason some tutors and teachers struggle with children is because they speak in confusing, sometimes overly philosophical ways. Knowing the material and knowing how to teach the material are two very different things. I can teach in a way that most people will able to understand.
My specialties are in writing, English, environmental sciences, and history/social studies. If you seek me for writing, I will do my best to teach you how to arrange your paper in the way that will get the most out of it, providing both an important basic foundation as well as interesting details.
