Throughout my educational career, I strove for excellence. In high school I was an honors students at a college preparatory independent school, involved in sports and other activities. During my college years I worked full time and carried a full academic load. I graduated with two majors, Political Science and Speech Communication.

I have been a classroom teacher and administrator for more than 20 years. While my teaching experience is in social studies, I have experiences teaching Pre-Algebra and a smattering of other courses. I have worked with ESE students and students with learning disabilities. I recently spent a year working at an international school in the Caribbean. I have been recognized as Teacher of the Term as well as in Who's Who, nominated by my students.

I have worked with students one on one, in small groups and at the college level. I have a wide variety of interests including sports all varieties, writing novels (I have completed one but not published), boating, and traveling.

American History

I have taught this course for 25 years. It is one of my favorite subjects. One period I find most interesting is the Cold War. This has been a passion of mine since I was a child. At age 11 I could recite all the Presidents in order. There are many more Presidents to remember now! I have taught AP, Honors, and regular U.S. History.

Prealgebra

I have taught Pre-Algebra in both a summer school setting and during the regular school year. I understand that some students find this subject difficult, and so I try to present the material in a way that the students can understand the concepts. It is very important that the students know the basics because math is cumulative. A better foundation gives students more confidence in improving their understanding and grades.

World History

I have taught this course for 25 years at the AP, Honors, and regular levels. It is one of my favorite courses. I enjoy this class, as it presents information on all of the world's religions, cultures, and societies, demonstrating the amazing diversity of this world.

SAT Writing

The SAT writing is an important component of the entire SAT score. Generally, the topics must be broad enough to meet the needs and experiences of all students. Practice makes perfect, and the SAT writing is no exception. The more writing you do, the better you become as a writer. There are ways to address the question and how to maximize your scores.
