Let me introduce myself in terms of my experience and my personal teaching style. I have been teaching for more than 10 years on a middle and high school level and two years at a Miami university. I teach English, writing, reading, grammar, journalism, philosophy, history, political science, theology. I also worked as a copy editor for years and am a proficient proof reader. Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Bible Studies

Beside being raised a never-miss-church Catholic, I have tutored at a Catholic university for three years now. Included in the core curriculum here is the requirement that each student take two theology classes, one ethics class, and one philosophy class and I am the primary tutor in these areas. So far I have tutored Old Testament, the sexuality of religion, religion in film, and the basic theology class using a text written by the professors here. It think I have covered many areas of theology and religion, from a Catholic and non-Catholic point of view.

Religion

I have tutored at a Catholic university for three years now. Included in the core curriculum here is the requirement that each student take two theology classes, one ethics class, and one philosophy class and I am the primary tutor in these areas. So far I have tutored Old Testament, the sexuality of religion, comparative religion, religion in film, and the basic theology class using a text written by the professors here. I think I have covered many areas of theology and religion, from a Catholic and non-Catholic point of view.

Study Skills

I have been a teacher for 10 years and have taught SAT prep and other standardized testing prep classes. During this time, I have worked with students who have learning differences and often need extra help with study skills and calming test anxiety. Using techniques I have honed over the years, I believe I can successfully help students with and without learning differences.
