I have a long and varied business experience as well as teaching credentials. I still work in business but have a love of teaching and of mathematics; and being around and guiding young people keeps me young as well as helps them. I see it as a win-win situation. I have a lot to offer in that I can draw from my business savvy and experience as well as my technical acumen and from my teaching skills both on the secondary school and college level.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

Algebra I is the basic course in Algebra covering all fundamentals of the discipline. Algebra is the language of all higher mathematics. Our tutoring is geared to help you build a better path to success by providing tools and building blocks necessary for higher mathematics. A course in Algebra I covers topics in elementary Algebra: integral, rational and irrational numbers, techniques of graphing and solving linear equations, polynomials and their operations, special products and factoring rational expressions and equations, radical expressions, quadratic equations and methods of solutions. Applications of linear and quadratic equations are included as well.

Algebra 2

In our tutoring sessions, we will follow closely with the curriculum you are receiving in school, adding that extra time it takes some students to grasp abstract ideas. Math is a science of the imagination, you will learn to use your talents to imagine what your school teacher is instructing during your class sessions.

Bodybuilding

I am a former competitive natural body builder, I have coached trainees in bodybuilding training while holding NASM and ACE certifications stressing correct form, proper diet guidelines, and appropriate structure of a body builder's weekly routine.
I hold a certification from the State University of New York, Purchase College in Health Counseling, and am a member of the American Association of Drugless Practitioners.

COBOL

COBOL is an old, tried and true computer programming language. It was developed for solving business applications. It is not much used today except in legacy systems. I have experience coding in COBOL on mainframe and mini computer systems.

Computer Programming

I have over 15 years' experience designing, developing, and implementing batch and OLTP applications using the System Development Life Cycle [SDLC].

Computer Science

I have spent the past 40 years in the IT industry after having received a Master of Science in Computer Science. My strong suit is data base design and implementation, but am conversant in all areas of IT or Computer Science.

I have taught computer courses for my employer and for a county college in my home state. I have also developed a syllabus for a college level computer science curriculum

GED

I am a former high school and college instructor and currently tutor a students who are preparing for their GED. One of my students first language is not English. I have been tutoring GED students for the past two years. We will work together to make you a success! References are available.

General Computer

I have over 30 years of experience designing and developing computer solutions for both Fortune 500 companies and small business. I hold a MS in Computer Science, and have a rare ability to grasp complex technical concepts and translate them for the non-technical audience. I am what is considered a power user in the entire suite of Microsoft desktop productivity tools.

Geometry

Shakespeare said that a picture is worth a thousand words. Geometry is the science of pictures, shapes, and their characteristics.

Microsoft Outlook

I've used Desk Productivity software for 20 years, including MS Word, MS Publisher, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook, Acrobat Professional, and other products.

Prealgebra

Algebra is the "language" of all higher mathematics. A good fundamental understanding of Algebra will help your student not only in math but in structured thinking used in all forms of problem solving; something all of us encounter throughout our entire lives.

SQL

One who loves what he does never works a day in his life. I have been fortunate throughout my career to do what I love in IT; Logical Data Modeling, Physical Data Modeling, Data Base design, development, and tuning.
