I'm currently working at a private school teaching 5th Grade Math and Language Arts and also 8th Grade Social Studies (US History). My teaching qualification is valid in the UK, not Florida.
I have 13 years' experience teaching across the curriculum in junior and all age special schools in England with curriculum coordinator responsibilities for English, Maths and IT. I've also worked as an IT Training and Development Officer delivering ECDL training (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook).
In addition to my B.Ed from Leeds University and my M.Ed. from Nottingham University I have both a certificate and a diploma in the education of pupils with special educational needs from, respectively, The Open University and Sheffield City Polytechnic (now Sheffield Hallam University).
It is my very firm belief that, where a student is failing, continuing to teach in the same manner that has previously failed to achieve success is a reasonably sure indicator of future failure. I believe that it is often necessary to revisit prior learning experience in order to establish solid ground before attempting to progress. I believe that humor can play an enormous role in learning especially when a student has already experienced failure and is afraid.
