Robert N.: "Patient, Effective tutor for Biological Sciences, Chemistry & TOEFL Preparation
I cherish every student, so I will quickly fill in the gaps, get you caught up, and teach you how to deal with new concepts on your own. Later, if your subject presents a new challenge, we can handle that with an occasional tutoring session.
"Good teaching requires a respectful student-teacher relationship that encourages students to take an active part in their own learning process." When working with students, I encourage an interactive, discussion-oriented process that challenges students to develop their own curiosity and to express their ideas both verbally and in writing. One of my primary goals is to model intellectual inquiry and to provide students the opportunity to practice critical thinking, thereby igniting the spark that lights the fire that makes learning self-fulfilling!
Hi Everybody,
My name is Robert and I may be the ideal tutor for you!
I have worked in the business world and applied my science background, extensive hospital volunteer experience and undergraduate biochemical research to a wide range of exciting practical applications in the workplace. I have worked for several years as an ESL language, TOEFL/ Business teacher and tutored in many science and math subject areas. As part of my work, I tutor presentation preparation, public speaking, reading, vocabulary, speaking and writing and test preparation.
Besides tutoring, I also have a lot of work experience as a public speaker. I have experience with students of all ages, including experience with individuals who have special needs.
In general, I favor a "hands-on" approach to teaching that involves a lot of interaction between the tutor and student, and concrete experiences in addition to worksheets. However, my specific methods vary according to the subject being taught and the learning style of the student.
I look forward to hearing from you!
