Hello, my name is Frances and I would love to be your tutor in English; reading and writing. I've been a big fan of the public library system all of my life. When my children were school age I helped them and their friends with their homework. I always notice mistakes on emails and it bothers me that attention to the details of the English language seem to be ignored. Everyone uses 'there' for 'their' and 'to' for 'too'. No one proofreads their work before sending.
I am also a short story writer and am in the midst of arranging for the illustration of one of my graphic novels. I have submitted some of my stories to various magazines, the Georgia Review, the Kenyon Review, the New Yorker. So far I have yet to be published. I don't know if it is because my subject matter is controversial or if my writing style is not sophisticated enough.
I am planning on teaching a short story writing class at the 9 Muses Art Center, which is a division of the Mental Health Association. This Art Center is for a special portion of the population and requires great patience and understanding. That level of patience is what I also bring to a student in one on one tutoring.
I prefer to have students come to my home if possible because I am disabled physically. I look forward to hearing from you and meeting you in person.
