Good communication is a huge part of what a student learns in his or her educational career. That's why I selected communications as my major. Drama was my minor, and, when I taught ESL literacy, I found myself acting out words in order to build a student's vocabulary.
Next, I became a tutor for students with disabilities at the college level and discovered the creativity of devising methods that worked with the abilities that the students had while working around those that they didn't have. I carried a caseload of students each semester, tutoring in a number of subjects. My students had many successes and I learned a great deal in the process. More recently, I spent five years as a lab assistant and tutor for ESL students and enjoyed the different challenge of devising ways of assisting speakers of other languages in conquering English.
If one approach is not effective, another will be. For sixteen years, I've been putting my communication and drama skills creatively to work getting students where they need to go. Students who have worked with me will testify to this. See if my abilities match your needs.
