Hello. I've spent my professional life in communications, specializing in public relations and media relations.

I've worked at CBS, Burson-Marsteller (the large public relations agency) as a broadcast media specialist, as president of Michael Klepper Associates in New York, and as president of my own New York-based agency, The Media Relations Group. I practice public relations today as an independent contractor. My skill sets include writing (news releases, speeches, pitch letters, Op-Ed pieces (Opinion Editorials for major newspapers); publicity (positioning a story and "selling" it to producers and editors at major media outlets); speech and media interview training.

I can be helpful with practically any of your writing needs (including resumes and pitch letters to employers, news releases, by-lined articles, Op-Ed pieces), and positioning yourself in writing or in-person for interviews. I can also help you prepare for a speech, or an interview on radio or television. American History

I've been interested in American history since college. I read books on the subject regularly, particularly the lives of American presidents. The presidents who interest me the most are: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Dwight Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson, Ronald Reagan, and Bill Clinton.

Vocabulary

A full, rich vocabulary enables the communicator to express him or herself with precision and the nuances that fine-tune meaning and comprehension!

Grammar

As one who believes that words, and the organization of words, are the primary relayers of meaning, I also believe that proper grammatical expression is a cornerstone of that communications ability.

Reading

I have been a communications specialist for 25 years, and my ability to write, read and communicate a story to others (often the media) has been essential to my task.

In helping others read, I begin with simple, interesting stories, exercise patience with them, and review their comprehension of the material every few sentences. It's very important to give them a winning experience!

I am a writer and publicist, and on the writing side, have expertise in the writing of speeches, Opinion Editorials and web copy. The range of my writing skills are wide; and I would be pleased to assist you improve those skills. I am patient, and friendly with a real desire to help people!

I've been a "student" of Government and Politics since college, particularly the U.S. Constitution - which I regard as the greatest document of governance ever written in human history. The Constitution, like our country, is evolving, and the Bill of Rights and Amendments to the Constitution reflect that evolution, especially the evolution of human rights.

Proofreading

When I worked as a writer at CBS Audience Services, where we would write letters to viewers who were making inquiries about CBS programs and policy, I learned that proofreading was essential in communicating clear and concise responses to those viewers.

I continue to believe that proofreading is essential, and that properly executed, it creates a perception of professionalism.
