I am a creative and energetic individual who has taught at all levels, including adults and people with learning disabilities. My commitment is to enable each student to reach his goals effectively. I bring patience and caring to each tutoring session.

I began my teaching career in New York City as an English teacher for grades 9-12 and later obtained a Master's Degree in Reading and worked with students to increase their reading levels. I have done private tutoring for homebound high school students and have facilitated SAT Verbal classes at a private academy.

For several years I ran my own practice for dyslexic students using Orton Dyslexia methods.
Since moving to Florida 4 years ago, I have taught Reading at Broward College to students who needed to pass the State Exit exam for college matriculation with an excellent passing rate.

I am also a volunteer tutor in Broward County in the Each One Teach One Reading program for adult literacy.

Grammar

I taught Language Arts as a New York City schoolteacher for more than 20 years. Grammar as well as spelling and literature was a major portion of the curriculum. Grammar was also an integral part of the curriculum at a business college where I taught English for several years.

Reading

I have a Master's degree in Reading with 20 plus years experience teaching reading on all levels including students with learning disabilities. I am trained in the Orton Dyslexia method and Laubach.
I can assess and evaluate reading problems.

Writing

I was an English teacher for more than 20 years in New York City. I am licensed, with a Master's degree.
My teaching experience included teaching writing compositions, essays, biographical treatises, and poetry.
As an adjunct professor at Broward College, I taught, corrected, and advised students on their writing.
This is a subject with which I am very proficient and familiar.

English

My undergraduate degree is in English, a subject I taught in the New York City schools for 23 years. I also taught English at the college level.

ESL/ESOL

As a New York City schoolteacher for more than 20 years, I taught students who did not have English as their first language. Helping them gain proficiency in English was very gratifying, both to myself and to my students.

As a community relations facilitator, I initiated and implemented English language classes for parents of students in the community.

Literature

I have 20 plus years of experience teaching in New York City as well as several years as a professor at Broward College. My college major was Literature and I have a Master's degree.

I have a law degree from New York Law School and have worked in both New York and New Jersey. I have taught Business Law in New York and have tutored Business Law here in Florida

GED

My twenty plus years of teaching in junior and senior high school as well as in college have prepared me to teach students the necessary skills for the GED exam. I hold a Master's degree, have tutored in all areas including homebound high school students who have successfully obtained their diploma.

SAT Reading

I have a Master's degree in Reading with 20 plus years of teaching experience including SAT test preparation.
I taught college prep classes at Broward College with a very high rate of success for matriculation.

ACT Reading

I taught this course at Broward College, with an extremely high rate of success so that students could become matriculated. I have a Master's degree in Reading and 20 plus years of teaching in New York City, private school and business college. I promise patience, and total commitment to your goal.

ACT English

I taught this course at Broward College to students in addition to Reading. My success rate was 98.9%. I have a Masters' degree in Reading with 20 plus years of teaching at all levels including people with learning disabilities. I promise you patience, diligence, and commitment.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have a Master's degree in Reading with certification to teach grades K-6. I have had a private tutoring practice teaching young students as well as adults. As a New York City schoolteacher, I taught young children for five years. Presently, I am working with several 9 and 10 year olds to improve their reading.

Phonics

I have a Master's degree in Reading, have been trained in Orton Dyslexia and the Kaubach methods, I taught children and adults with learning disabilities for more than 20 years.

Study Skills

As a teacher in both public and private schools, and as a tutor, I have taught my students "how" to study as well as "what" to study. A good teacher prides herself on method as well as content.
My experience encompasses more than 20 years of hands on teaching in the classroom as well as a private Reading practice.

Special Needs

I am trained by the Orton Dyslexia Society to work with students who have dyslexia and AD/HD. I have had a private practice working with such students. Additionally, I tutor students who are so challenged.

Public Speaking

I have had a great deal of public speaking experience; as deputy mayor of Wesley Hills, NY I spoke to many civic organizations and community groups.

I am active in politics in Broward County, Fl. and speak to organizations in support of candidates.

As a college professor, I address large classes.

I can instill good public speaking traits and confidence to students.

Career Development

As a licensed teacher who taught for more than 20 years, I trained upper level students in literacy that was applicable to obtaining employment. This encompassed filling out job applications, writing resumes, applying to schools, oral and written presentations.
My position at Broward College also included training students to enhance and develop their career aspirations.

ADD/ADHD

I have worked with students with ADD/ADHD as a New York City schoolteacher for 23 years. I am currently tutoring, successfully, two students with ADD.

Dyslexia

I am trained in the Orton Dyslexia method which uses a multisensory approach and is most helpful with dyslexic students. I also use the Laubach method which is successful in helping dyslexic students. I have a master's degree in Reading with 20 years of experience
