For twelve years I have worked in the Financial Services industry. A part of my professional occupation has been to train and teach young business professionals the craft and skills necessary to build their own practice. This includes all aspects of building a business: communication skills, finance, marketing and sales. I am a nationally certified sales trainer. Prior to this, I worked in Venture Capital as a VP of Development for a $14 million dollar start-up company. And before that, I created, developed and built a Sports Medicine company, eventually growing it to three specialty clinics in the Tampa Bay area. I then sold this business to one of the largest sports medicine and rehabilitation providers in the country. Before that, I worked with the Federal and Circuit Courts overseeing bankruptcy actions and assisting companies through that process.
In addition to my vocational activities, I have studied history for my entire life and continue to do so. I have been asked to pursue several opportunities to teach history on a part-time basis. However, I will probably leave my love and knowledge of history as something to share in a tutorial environment for now.
I believe that teaching or tutoring is not unlike a coaching opportunity. An athlete may not perform exactly as expected at first. However, by knowing the fundamentals and by practice, excellence can be achieved. Additionally, I believe that true educational success is not found simply in the answer, but in the quest to discover how or where the answer is to be found.
