Middle and High School Algebra and General Computer Knowledge

I have been tutoring friends and family in all types of general computer knowledge for the past 10 to 12 years, as well as tutoring classmates and friends in mathematics throughout middle and high school. I have a Teaching Certificate for Mathematics Grades 5-9 in the state of Florida, as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology with a minor in Mathematics from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

When I am tutoring, the best method I have discovered is taking a problem and relating it to a situation with which the student has experience. Tying mathematical problems into our every day lives is an effective and lasting method for tutoring that has served me well in my tutoring experience. For computer knowledge, the best method is to show the process, then have the student repeat that process. As the Chinese proverb says, "I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I see and I understand."

Linear Algebra

During my career at the University of TN, Knoxville, I received a minor in Mathematics along with my BA in Sociology. In order to obtain this minor, I had to choose a focus subject in math, and I chose Abstract Linear Algebra. I took Advanced Abstract Algebra I and II before graduation.

While attending the University of TN Knoxville, I worked at Elavon, Inc., an incoming customer service call center. I worked at this business for five and a half years, every single day of which I used Microsoft Windows. In fact, I have never owned another operating system besides Windows, and the only time I have used another operating system is at school.
