My goal is to help your child not only achieve better grades, but gain enthusiasm and confidence in his or her academic pursuits.

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Science from the University of Virginia, with courses in mechanical engineering and materials science, and a Bachelor of Arts in East Asian Studies from the University of California at Santa Barbara, giving me a comprehensive background in both the arts and sciences. At the University of Virginia, I learned how to effectively communicate scientific and technical subject matter to audiences from a wide variety of backgrounds through presenting my undergraduate thesis.

At UC Santa Barbara, I worked as a tutor, assisting fellow students in improving their writing's structure, coherence, and grammar, while also maintaining a 3.4 GPA in my own writing classes. I was also able to help other students improve their grades in math and science courses which I had taken previously.

With much of my academic background in engineering and the sciences, my focus is on helping students understand and engage with their course material through accessible and practical real-world examples. I've found that students get the most out of a subject when they can see how it applies to their own lives outside of school.

I've always been enthusiastic about learning, and I hope to help your child find that same enthusiasm!

I have successfully completed multiple college courses in the use of Autodesk AutoCAD and used the software to design parts for a prototype telescope array. These pieces, upon fabrication, fit within required tolerances and have been used without problem in the years since production.

In addition to successful completion of one year of courses in photography, including film developing and use of a darkroom for printmaking (black-and-white only), I am also a professional (digital) photographer with numerous pieces published by Zagat.
