Hello! My name is Alesha and my passion is teaching. I have loved to read and write my whole life and discovered my passion for teaching these subjects early on in high school. I am passionate about the Language Arts and believe that they are a huge key to success in school and the workforce. My goal is to equip students with the necessary language skills to flourish in academia as well as in everyday life. Since our lives are often intricately interwoven, I believe that a child's education should be the same way. Language Arts, in particular, lend themselves to this sort of learning, and I enjoy, when possible, drawing connections between all subject areas. I strongly believe that students will be most successful when they understand the real life application of the work they are doing and can see why the skills they are learning are so necessary. As a result of this belief, I work hard to help students make these connections and to make their learning their own. As a teacher, I believe that I am never done learning and growing myself to adjust to the ever-changing demands of the education world and to the needs of each and every student I work with. My goal in any tutoring position is to build mutual trust and respect, but most of all to see visible growth through every encounter.
I have held several small tutoring positions with high school students. The focuses of these positions have ranged from literature, to research writing, to grammar. I have also held a middle school tutoring position and have completed dozens of hours assisting in a public school setting while working towards and Elementary Education Degree and Reading Certification. I hope to continue my education part-time to obtain a Bachelors in English with a high school teaching endorsement. In the mean time, I'm doing what I love - teaching Language Arts.
