I have been teaching comparative religion since 1994 and the Bible as an elective to high school students since 2001. I have escorted trips to the Holy Land for mixed groups of faiths for the past 6 years. I am currently teaching The Old Testament to high school seniors in a private school setting. I included religions and culture in my Masters Dissertation.
I have for more than 6 years been teaching study and testing skills at the University level. I teach this to freshman in a group environment at FAU as needed. I completed successfully, at University of Miami, a course on the teaching skills and methods for both study and testing skills.
Many of our university students come to the college classroom with poor time management and study skills, struggling for even a "C". I have tutored students in private sessions resulting in a 1-2 grade increase. Although there is not a one skill list fits all, with individual adjustments to there approach everyone can increase their grades.
Using these essential methods, when applied correctly, improve subject material comprehension resulting in improved grades. Beyond the basic when and where factors, there is a deeper level of reading and listening comprehension. Often a student hears the lecture in class and read the word in the text but fails to listen or understand the concept or statements. With practiced study skills, student frustration diminishes resulting in better comprehension and retention. Good study skills are often ignored until poor grade become a factor but it is a problem which can improve with guidance, implementation and practice.
I am an RN with my PhD who has been teaching Nursing related qualifying tests such as NCLEX, HESI and TEAS for more than 10 years. I am currently tutoring a students in several types of tests to qualify for nursing schools. I am proficient in all areas of the exam which include English, Reading Comprehension, Math, A&P, Physics and Chemistry. My students do very well in these exams.
