Hi! I'm Ms. V. I am so glad you're checking out my tutoring services! I have been teaching students of all ages for about 15 years. I am certified in special education as well as general education. I specialize in helping students and families with behavioral troubles (EBD or behavior disorder). I have a lot of experience working with students with ADHD/ADD.
I do like to laugh and have fun but business is business! So, I try hard to make time for both during each tutoring session. I have 3 boys of my own, so I do understand how challenging things can be for parents and students alike. I have helped many families understand all the special ed "stuff," performed diagnostic assessments to show that there was a need for the school to step in, beefed up reading or math skills, or just helped kids make sense of all the letters and numbers they see on the paper.
I will consider Saturday classes if that would fit your schedule better. Lets get together and talk. I look forward to meeting you and your student.
Have a great day and be fabulous!
I have taught Elementary students for a number of year, especially those with learning disabilities. I posses a Florida teaching certificate, for general curriculum K-12. More recently I was able to pre-assess a student while tutoring her over the summer and provided the parent with the necessary documentation to encourage the school to look deeper into the needs of this child. She is now receiving additional academic support throughout the school day. I am so happy for her. She is now making progress!!
I have been a teacher for many years. I have both a Exceptional Student license certificate in Florida and a Special Education Certificate in Georgia. I have worked with many students who fall into this category.
Part of working with students with special needs is understanding how they process information and finding or developing ways to assist them in retaining the information they study. This is something I have done for many many years as a Special Ed. teacher both at the individual level as well as whole group. I break the information down in to manageable pieces so the student is not overwhelmed. Then, based on the students learning style and needs, develop a system of delivery that provides a greater opportunity to retain knowledge. Whether it be flash cards, pictures, lists, a game, audio sound bites ... I find a way to increase the students knowledge of the subject being studied.
