Hi, my name is Chip. I am offering my expertise as an English Tutor, I focus on Asian students who want to master the English language. I presently teach English to students from Mainland China. My ESL students age range is from 15 to 20 and also have students in their late 40's who plan to immigrate to the USA. My lessons are not boring and some are quite funny to keep you interested and engaged!

I have a Bachelor's degree with a focus on English and writing from Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida.

The goal of my English tutor class is to advance your level of English understanding to speak clearly and communicate effectively.

I will assess your BICS or Basic Interpersonal Communication Skills needed for everyday communication. Then can advance to CALP or Cognitive Academic Language Proficiency, skills needed in the academic classroom for problem solving inference, analyzing, synthesizing and predicting. Then on to Listening Comprehension, speaking which includes grammar and word order, vocabulary, pronunciation and fluency of speech. Then to develop reading and writing skills and introduction to irregular word forms which present some difficulty in learning English.

I also teach TPR or Total Physical Response. This is a strategy that introduces new language as a series of commands to physically enact an every day event for something as simple as shopping for groceries, ordering from a menu at a restaurant or baking a pie. We have examples for all age levels.

I am proficient in teaching English to Chinese students and I get results. I have a diverse background in business and can bring a unique style to learning business English, conversational style English in social settings and English for attending college for academic success.

I have references from Mainland China upon request. I can teach remotely online and will to travel to your location in the Central Florida area.

My goal and passion for you is to exceed your expectations to make you a great English speaker. If you believe it you can achieve it so lets start learning!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

English

I have many years of English instruction and I am very passionate about teaching others. I am a graduate of Rollins College and have taken many writing related courses.

I am a competent English and ESL Tutor. My focus is teaching Chinese students and I currently teach long distance learners in Mainland China. One of the more interesting areas of teaching Chinese is understanding and contrasting how the Chinese think and applying that knowledge to English grammar. I have found that my students learn very quickly when they are able to understand the differences between Chinese grammar and English grammar rules.

ESL/ESOL

I have direct experience teaching Chinese students in Mainland China via the internet and here locally in Central Florida. I have a passion to teach and see the difference that is made over a short period of time.

My students have enjoyed rapid improvement after three months of teaching. This makes it much easier to acclimate themselves to live here in the United States to hold down a job and communicate effectively.

I have focused on the Chinese culture instead of teaching a general group of students and have been able to correct the typical errors in word idioms and pronunciation that the Chinese typically encounter.

TEAS

So nice to meet you! ! I have a four year degree from Rollins College. I have home-schooled my own children who have in turn graduated from college and presently have experience teaching young adults in language. I have also have teaching experience at Valencia Community College in Central Florida. I have an organized approach to teaching the TEAS test that is key to passing this exam and can boost your score in the Reading, Math, Science and English portions of the exam.

The 'TEAS Test' or Test of Essential Academic Skills, is an assessment test given to prospective nursing students and prepares you for the NCLEX PN and RN tests. These are comprehensive tests to become a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse.

The TEAS is the first important stepping stone on the way to becoming a nurse. The TEAS is an assessment of the level of academic ability to enter nursing school. It contains four areas to test your competency in Reading, Math, Science, English and Language usage.

To prepare for this test, I will take you through the areas of the test, review your strengths and weaknesses in each area of the test so you may focus on the areas you will need to work on to pass the test. I will guide your understanding of how the test is administered, coach you on your weaknesses and give you a thorough understanding of how the test is judged.

The TEAS is one assessment of many similar to the SAT or LSAT that the nursing school uses to determine your admittance criteria.
