I was a Math major in college. I enjoy helping others grasp math concepts, especially in Algebra. It is exciting to see a student light up when they first grasp a concept. I taught an Advanced level math class in a home school setting. While I enjoy teaching in the classroom, my favorite means of teaching is one on one. I am an encourager.

I home schooled my son from 5th grade through 12th. He was a 2009 National Merit Scholarship Finalist. For the last 7 years, I have been a volunteer guidance counselor to 2 home school support groups in Lee County regarding SAT/ACT test preparation, college admissions, dual enrollment, academic advising, course and major selection and financial aid. I taught Accounting and Business at Grove City College for more than 3 years. I have worked for large corporations and for a small business as a Staff Financial Analyst.

Algebra 1

This subject includes real numbers, solving linear equations and systems of equations, slope-intercept method, percents, ratios and graphing. Algebra is my favorite subject to teach.

Prealgebra

Review of whole numbers, mixed numbers, negative numbers, decimals and fractions. Order of operations. Polynomials and solving linear equations. Ratios, Percents and Proportions.

Reading

I help strengthen reading comprehension skills which aid in understanding and ability to grasp subject matter.

Statistics

I was the Statistics Professor's assistant, helping students with statistics homework. I taught Intro and Intermediate Accounting at the college level for more than 3 years.

English

English includes grammar, spelling, essay writing help, parts of speech, preparing for reading, writing and reading comprehension for the GED, GMAT, SAT and similar tests.

SAT Math

Experienced with improving scores with repeated test taking for SAT tests.

GED

Review all math, history, English, science and reading comprehension areas covered on the test. I have some tried and true hints on the best way to prepare for the test. My specialty area is math. We work on the math questions you find difficult until you can understand them thoroughly.

In high school I took 4 years of French and 2 years of Spanish, taking both French and Spanish at the same time. I taught English grammar, comprehension and conversation at all levels while home schooling my son. I also taught him Spanish and Latin.
